About Mark Fergusson - Down to Earth's Chief Vegetarian Officer

Mark Fergusson is the Chief Vegetarian Officer of Down to Earth ALL VEGETARIAN Organic and Natural, Hawaii’s only ALL VEGETARIAN natural foods store, and one of only a few in the nation. When he joined the company in 1991, he had just moved to Hawaii from Australia for a dream job come true. His values fit perfectly with Down to Earth's commitment to a vegetarian lifestyle. He started as the Chief Financial Officer and later became the Chief Executive Officer. In 2009 Mark added Chief Vegetarian Officer to his list of job titles and says that it is his hope that one day all businesses will have a Chief Vegetarian Officer. Down to Earth, and promoting the widespread adoption of a vegetarian diet for its many health and environmental benefits (and for the sake of the innocent animals), is his life’s calling.

Mark was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Macquarie University, and completed CPA Australia’s CPA program.

Mark is a volunteer mediator for Mediation Center of the Pacific. He sits on various boards and actively assists several non-profits and their affiliates. He resides in Kailua with his wife, Sandy. They have three children – two sons and a daughter, all lifelong vegetarians.
