The most important thing you can do for your health, the environment, and the innocent animals is to go veggie.
I am pleased to announce that Down to Earth is opening a new store in Hilo on the Big Island this fall. The store in Hilo is located in the incredibly high traffic Wal-Mart Shopping Center in a 5,500-square-foot space being vacated by Island Naturals Market who are moving elsewhere.
This is a great location. We were actually going to open a store in the exact same spot 13 years ago, and are excited to have the opportunity to do it now. We were surprised that Island Naturals would actually relinquish an outstanding location in the highest-traffic shopping center on the Big Island. We couldn’t turn it down when it was offered to us by the Landlord (who is also the Landlord for one of our other stores).
We look forward to serving the Big Island.

August 17th, 2009I was so excited to hear the news. I couldn't believe it and I thought that it was a joke, I never even dreamed that this would happen. I've lived on the BI for a few years but found out about DTE when I got a chance to visit Kailua. It's definitely my favorite place hands down. I am so excited and I bet that the Island Naturals people are just smacking their foreheads right no and can't believe their bad luck. What a sweet deal for the folks of Hilo!

August 17th, 2009Finally, a place to buy a super delicious, vegetarian lunch! I'm a hard working single guy and don't have time to cook. This is a lifesaver for me! And I have a nice place to invite friends, and business acquaintances for a very nice "all vegetarian" meal.
Who ever is cooking for them, sure knows their craft well!!

August 16th, 2009I've lived in Puna for about 5 years after relocating from Oahu. And I tell ya, it's always a chore shopping at one of the three local health food stores.
Why? Cuz I always have to check ingredients to see if there's any dead animal products in them! I can't tell you how many times I got stuff home and then saw the tiny print telling me I had to return the product, or throw it away cuz the return period had expired.
Yahoo DTE! I can't wait.

August 13th, 2009I am sooooo incredibly happy to hear about the new store opening in Hilo... and so quickly too! I've always been a huge fan of Down to Earth and when I lived on the Big Island for several years, one thing I missed terribly was a great health food store like DTE. There are other health food stores over there, but they're just NOT THE SAME! Living on Oahu now, so I'm just happy as a peach with 3 stores to choose from, but knowing there will be a new store opening in Hilo gives me a good incentive to go back for a visit! :-)

August 12th, 2009How great to hear Down to Earth is opening in Hilo! What divine help to get even the same location! This is such exciting news for the residents of Hilo.
Will the store be up and running before the Ironman Hawaii Triathlon in October? It would be nice for all those athletes to know their is an awesome vegetarian store to get some quality shopping done :)
