Aloha Kris, thank you for your comment.

The organic industry treats the cows better than regular dairies as it is a requirement that organic milk come from cows who are allowed pasture time (as opposed to being kept confined indoors and fed a diet of grains), in fact the organic rule was only just last week amended to specify the minimum amount of pasture time, as some "organic" dairies were skirting the rule and providing minimal pasture time. Additionally they are not fed growth or other hormones and are not routinely fed antibiotics.

Beyond that the same practices apply, boys killed at birth or sent to vealers, daughters separated from their mothers shortly after birth, the cows killed once they are no longer economically productive.

I live next to an organic farmer who keeps goats for the purpose of making cheese and milk. The way he relates to his animals and the mutual love and respect between them is something to witness. If only more farmers were like that.

I did have a question though, in some stores they offer organic milk, usually more expensive than regular milk and up to double the price in some cases, do you know if these brands treat their cows better than the mass produced brands?
