Candied Yams

6 yams, cooked and peeled
Butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 T. cornstarch
½ tsp. ground nutmeg
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 cup water
Orange Marmalade (optional)


1. Slice yams into ¼ inch rounds. Melt 3 T. butter in pan. Lay yams all over the pan.

2. In a sauce pan combine sugar, 3 T. butter, cornstarch, water, and nutmeg. Cook over medium heat until the sauce becomes thick.

3. Pour the sauce over the yams and dot with butter. (If using marmalade spread it all over the yams.) Sprinkle chopped nuts on top

4. Bake at 350 F for 35 minutes.
