Assistant Deli Manager

Our Delis are pivotal parts of our stores – on average, Deli sales account for about 30% of an entire store’s sales. This person will help oversee, manage, and direct the Deli team members, and help to develop and improve the Deli and provide quality food service to customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

Technical skills:

  • At least one year’s experience in food service.
  • Previous cooking experience, preferably of at least six (6) months, good knife skills preferred.
  • Basic cooking skills: follow recipes and measurements accurately.
  • NRA ServSafe® certified or willing to attain within one year of being in the position.
  • Knowledge of sanitary food handling and preparation techniques.

Supervisory/management skills:

  • Supervisory experience – hiring, training, evaluating, directing, motivating.
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Six months in a management position, preferably running a restaurant or deli.

Customer service skills:

  • Ability to respond promptly to customer needs
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations well.
  • Offers fast, friendly, and efficient service.


  • Must be able to work in any store on the island they live on.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English well.
  • Previous natural foods retail experience preferred.

Starting Pay

 $23.75 per hour commensurate with experience and education. Evaluations (with potential generous raises) are once per year.
