Kailua Free Talk: Take Action to Reduce Waste

- We know waste is a problem, and it yet it can be difficult to figure out how to reduce our rubbish footprint. This talk will be a deep dive into ways we can change the systems and habits that keep us in a waste mindset. Leave with clear next steps and tangible to:
- Reduce waste in your household/business.
- Support and demand changes in our production systems and consumer economy.
- Ways you can get involved in your community to help reduce waste.
Nicole is the Director of Zero Waste Oʻahu, a local organization working to build am equitable, waste-free future for Hawaiʻi through community engagement, policy transformation, and demonstration projects. She has been involved in the waste reduction movement since 2009, when she sailed through the Pacific Garbage Patch and saw first-hand how much our consumer culture is impacting our planet. Nicole has a B.A. in Environmental Science and Policy and an M.A. in Environmental Anthropology from UH Mānoa. She also the Living Lab Coordinator at the University of Hawaiʻi System Office of Sustainability, where she designs and manages projects that will help the University become more sustainable.
