Tofu Taco Filling

This is a flavorful and spicy way to cook up tofu. You can use this filling for tacos, burritos, and for nachos!

  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (14-ounce) block extra firm tofu
  • 2 Tablespoons ancho chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 (4-ounce) can diced green chilies
  • 1 cup chopped Roma tomatoes
  • ½ cup corn
  • ½ cup black beans
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro


  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and sauté until onions become translucent.
  2. Crumble in tofu and cook until slightly browned.
  3. Add ancho chili powder, cumin and cayenne. Mix well.
  4. Add green chilis, tomatoes, corn, black beans and lime juice. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and fold in cilantro.
  6. Use as a filler for your tacos, burritos, or on top of nachos. Enjoy!
