Swine flu

Things have been hectic so I haven't done any blogging over the past few days. I have been busy working on remodel and expansion plans (more about this in the near future).

Hawaii's first H1N1 (swine flu) death has occurred (though we weren't told about it until at least 11 days after it had occurred), the state of Hawaii Health Department has given up on tracking swine flu, too many cases for them to monitor and investigate, and Hawaii is exporting swine flu to places like Korea who put anyone with symptoms in strict quarantine, including a group of Hawaii school students and their chaperone's on a tour.

It is hard to get a feel for what the real story is on swine flu, on the one hand it is treated like a major threat, on the other it is said to be much the same as the regular flu in terms of symptoms and risk of death. The fear is that it will morph into something more serious.

In the meantime, it is important to cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough and not touch your eyes, ears, nose or mouth with your fingers. These steps along with frequent handwashing and avoiding enclosed public spaces as much as possible are the best things you can do to protect yourself from the swine flu.

Thanks for reading.
