Readers of the Star-Advertiser named Down to Earth Organic & Natural the "Best Health Food Store" for the seventh year in a row! The award was one of “Hawaii’s Best 2013 People’s Choice Awards,” which the newspaper announced earlier this month. The Star-Advertiser sponsors the awards every year.
"We are very pleased by the recognition," says Mark Fergusson, Down to Earth Organic Officer (CEO/CFO).
Down to Earth started in 1977, over 35 years ago, when a group of friends in Wailuku, Maui, turned their enthusiasm and passion for organic and natural foods, and their vegetarian values, into a small retail store. It had concrete blocks and wooden planks for shelves, beaten up old second hand equipment, low ceilings, and painted concrete floors.

Down to Earth has four stores on Oahu: Honolulu, Kailua, Pearlridge, and Kapolei; and its recently renovated and expanded store in Kahului on Maui.
